Jocelyn Lee

Maine, USA

A fine-art photographer (Yale, Hunter MFA, Guggenheim Fellow) based in Maine, Jocelyn Lee has spent 40 years making psychological portraits. Her acclaimed 2020 monograph Sovereign gathers naked portraits of women between 50 and 95, confronting the invisibility and desexualization of older women and insisting on the beauty and sensuality of aging bodies of every type. She also co-founded SPEEDWELL Contemporary, a nonprofit gallery championing the work of mid-to-late-career women and non-binary artists.
